North Carolina fisherman Riahn Brewington spent half an hour last Wednesday combating a massive catfish he hooked at Cape Fear River in Wilmington.
About the size of Brewington’s upper body, the fish weighed in at 112 pounds, but wildlife officials said it was just five pounds short of the state record.
“In the water, it felt like it was pretty big,” Brewington told WTVR-TV. “He took all of the string out two times, and I thought I was going to lose him. I didn’t realize how big he was until I actually got my hands underneath him.”
After taking several photos of the monstrous fish which he later posted his Facebook profile, he released beast back into the river.
