Agents from the U.S. Border Patrol, Air and Marine Operations, along with troopers from Texas Department of Public Safety discovered a large load of marijuana after a vehicle pursuit Wednesday morning.
Border patrol agents assigned to the McAllen Station were patrolling near Mission, when they observed a Chevrolet Suburban depart the area at a high rate of speed. The agents and DPS troopers pursued the vehicle while a helicopter from Air and Marine Operations responded to assist in the pursuit. The AMO pilot notified agents that two subjects had exited and were attempting to abscond.
Agents apprehended the two subjects and discovered 48 bundles of marijuana, weighing 1,230 pounds with an estimated value of almost $1 million inside the vehicle. The subjects, narcotics and vehicle were all turned over to DPS.
