MTV’s “2017 Resolutions for White Guys” video draws controversy

An MTV News video clip titled, “2017 Resolutions for White Guys,” is drawing controversy with some of the messages given by staff. In the video, MTV News reporters offer advice to white men for 2017.

“First off, try to recognize that America was never ‘great’ for anyone who wasn’t a white guy,” one staffer says in the clip.

One woman asks if it can be agreed that the “Black Lives Matter” movement is not the opposite of “All Lives Matter,” adding “black lives just matter.”

“Also, Blue Lives Matter isn’t a thing,” one reporter says followed up by another reporter saying, “Cops weren’t born with blue skin, right? I mean….yeah, they weren’t born blue.”

Eighteen thousand replies to the video appeared on Twitter, some in support of the message, but many more critical of the message.

MTV has removed the video from its site.
