More than a pound of marijuana was seized from a residence hall Wednesday night by Angelo State University Police, according to a post on the department’s social media page.
According to the post, university police were called to a residence hall Wednesday about a narcotics violation.
After an investigation, officers suspected a large amount of marijuana was being stored in the residence. Officers called for assistance from the San Angelo Police Department K-9 unit. The dog alerted to several areas in the residence.
A search warrant was obtained for a safe that officers had seized. When they opened the safe, the post said officers found more than a pound of marijuana (18.27 ounces), other narcotics and a sizable amount of cash.
The student was later arrested and charged with possession of marijuana more than 4 ounces but less that 5 lbs.
