Midnight Rodeo San Angelo shuts its doors for good

San Angelo’s Midnight Rodeo, 2581 Sunset Drive, is no more. The music venue and bar closed for good Saturday, according to former manager John Wayne.

The club’s closure affected the employment of at least 15 employees, who did not receive much advance notice about the permanent closure, Wayne said.

A Randy Rogers acoustic show that was scheduled for Wednesday was announced as canceled on the Randy Rogers Band Facebook page. The band promised to return to San Angelo in the fall. Where they will perform is not known, but it will not be at Midnight Rodeo.

While no definitive reason was given for the closure, the venue had seen a downturn in attendance in the last year.

Midnight Rodeo marketing director Mark Easterling said he’d like patrons to know that “we appreciate the exceptional run we had in San Angelo the last six years.”
