Lawrence John Ripple, a 70-year-old man fed up with his wife, decided jail would be better than living at home, walked into a Kansas City bank last week and handed a teller a note saying he had a gun and demanded money.
After having an argument with his wife, Ripple wrote his demand note in front of her and said, “he’d rather be in jail than home.”
According to a statement from FBI Special Agent Eric Beltz, Ripple took the approximately $2,924 he was given and sat down in the bank lobby, but told the security guard he was the guy he was looking for.
The Washington Post posted a judge released Ripple from jail after he spent a short time behind bars.
The bank he “robbed” was approximately a block from a police station.
