The driver of a Dodge Charger disregarded the red light, slammed into another vehicle and hit a utility pole Sunday afternoon.
San Angelo Police Department issued a Nixle alert at 3:22 p.m. Sunday asking the public to avoid the intersection of South Bell Street and East Harris Avenue due to a motor vehicle crash.
According to Officer Long, the San Angelo Police Department received the call about the crash at 3:09 p.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived at the scene they discovered that the red Dodge Charger was heading north on Bell Street, disregarded the red light, struck the green Chevy Impala on the passenger side, before crashing into the utility pole.
No one was transported by ambulance, but they went to the hospital in personal vehicles. The injuries are unknown.
“If anyone will receive a citation, the driver of the Dodge will likely be issued a citation for disregarding the red light,” Long said.
The intersection was closed down during the investigation and will likely be closed down until Monday. Traffic is being diverted into Preusser Street.
