A man has been reported dead after an officer-involved shooting in Midland Monday evening.
A press release from City of Midland Public Information Officer Sara Bustilloz said the man was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead shortly Monday.
Officers with the Midland Police Department responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. to the 500 block of Industrial Avenue in reference to a check person call of a man who was said to be causing a disturbance and was in possession of a firearm, the release said.
During a confrontation with police, the man was shot, transported to the hospital late died.
The investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, according to the release.
Both officers involved will be placed on administrative leave per normal protocol, pending an internal review. Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers are conducting a third-party investigation into the use of force, per normal protocol.
The man’s next of kin had not been notified at the time of the release Monday.
