A 48-year-old man who was arrested by Austin Police for driving while intoxicated on New Year’s Eve is accused of hiding cocaine under his stomach fat while being transported to jail.
CBS Austin reports Austin Police pulled Florentino Herrera over after he was seen rapidly changing lanes on North Lamar Boulevard shortly after midnight. An officer says he also saw Herrera run a stop sign and the traffic stop was initiated.
In an affidavit obtained by the news station, Herrera admitted to having two “Crown and Cokes.” The officer said Herrera smelled strongly of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.
Herrera was caught on camera in the patrol car trying to destroy the cocaine he had hidden under his stomach fat.
He’s been charged with driving while intoxicated, a third-degree felony.
