Major crash on Arden Road sends four to Shannon

UPDATE: San Angelo Police were dispatched to the scene of a major motor vehicle crash with injuries and a trapped individual at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday on the 3400 block of Arden Road.

Sgt. Cade Solsbery, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said when officers and the San Angelo Fire Department arrived, they were able to get everyone out of the vehicles.

Solsbery said a 1998 tan Honda Accord on Oxford Road turning westbound onto Arden Road. A tan 1992 Dodge 250 dieselĀ  was southbound at a high rate of speed and they collided in the intersection. The rate of speed had not been calculated but Solbery said that witness statements indicated it was well above the speed limit.

The impact sent the Honda into the yard of a nearby apartment complex between Oxford and Robin Hood Trail and the Dodge into a school zone signal light pole in front of the San Angelo Security building.

There were two occupants in each vehicle. Solsbery said all four occupants were transported by ambulance to Shannon Medical Center for their injuries. The extent of the occupants injuries or their conditions were unknown. The driver of the Honda had to be extracted from the vehicle.

No names will be released pending the outcome of the investigation and until police receive a status update of their conditions at the hospital, he said.

Officer Ed Hunger and Sgt. Todd Dornhecker were involved in the investigation as well as Det. Kelly Lajoie who was on scene collecting witness statements.

Solsbery said until updates are received about the occupants, no further information will be released as the crash remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY: A major vehicle crash on Arden Road between Robin Hood Trail and Oxford Street has traffic detoured around the area.

Details about the crash are not immediately available.

A witness said that they heard the crash but did not see it. One vehicle involved is a gold Honda sedan, one is a older model Dodge pickup.

Multiple persons were transported to Shannon Medical Center for unknown injuries.
