Lubbock woman dead, two hospitalized after crash near Abilene

A two-vehicle crash on State Highway 351, 7.7 miles northeast of Abilene resulted in at least one fatality and two people being transported to a hospital Thursday.

According to The Department of Public Safety the driver of a 2008 Pontiac GT was traveling north on SH 351 when she passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone, swerved back into its lane to avoid an oncoming vehicle, over-corrected and went back into the southbound lane and crashed head-on with a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe that was traveling south.

DPS officials said the driver of the passenger car, 52-year-old Angela Lynn Adkins of Lubbock was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Abilene Professional Services.

Her passenger, 48-year-old Charles Leslie Dixon of Graham was flown to Hendrick Medical Center in a medical helicopter and is still in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV, 62-year-old Bruce Foreman was taken to Hendrick Medical Center by ambulance and is in serious condition.

All three were wearing seat belts when the crash occurred and the crash is still under investigation.

The investigating officer is Trooper Daniel White with DPS in Anson.
