Longtime Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, dies at 90

Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro died Friday at the age of 90 from unknown causes.

As reported by CNN, Castro’s brother and the nation’s president, Raul, announced his death on Cuban television Friday afternoon.
Castro lived long enough to see Cuba and the U.S. reestablish diplomatic relations in July 2015.

President-Elect Donald Trump weighed in on Castro’s death, offering a four-worded tweet shortly after the announcement that said “Fidel Castro is dead!”

The sendoff was brief for Trump, who had publicly disputed with Castro for decades and battled criticism for reportedly wanting to open a casino in Cuba in the 1990s, according to the Washington Post.

Castro’s funeral will be Dec. 4.
