Learning while intoxicated: ASU student goes to class under the influence

Angelo State University Police reported the arrest of a student who attended class under the influence Wednesday. According to the ASU PD’s social media page, University Police were called to the Vincent Nursing-Physical Science Building on a call for an intoxicated person. The caller told the ASUPD that there was a male student in their classroom who was allegedly highly intoxicated.

When they arrived, officers found and detained the student. The officers determined the student was intoxicated to the point of being a danger to themselves and others. According to the post, the student smelled of alcohol and admitted to having consumed narcotics earlier

The student was transported to the Tom Green County Jail on a charge of public intoxication.

According to the Tom Green County Jail bookings report from Wednesday, John Gregory Jefferies, 31, was booked at 4:21 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of public intoxication. The listed arresting agency on the report is Angelo State University Police Department.
