While patrolling the area around Econo Lodge, Officer Bowhay with the SAPD, spotted 39-year old Philip S. Horton, who has an outstanding warrant for a narcotics charge.

Horton was spotted in the parking lot, standing by a blue pickup.

Officer Bowhay arrested Horton for the outstanding warrant and then requested a search of Horton’s vehicle by K-9 unit on the suspicion that he may be in possession of narcotics at the time.

Officer Fincher and Police Service Dog Xander performed an exterior, open-air sniff around the vehicle. During which, Xander suggested the presence of suspected narcotics.

This search resulted in the finding of marijuana, paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking and methamphetamine.

In addition to his previous outstanding warrant, Horton faces additional charges of Felony 1 Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance and Class B Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.
