“La Dolce Vita: The Romance of Italy” chorale performance set for March 31

“La Dolce Vita: The Romance of Italy,” will be performed by the Angelo State University Concert Chorale at 7:30 p.m. March 31, at the Cactus Hotel, 36 E. Twohig Ave.

The performance is free and open to the public.

The chorale will be accompanied by the Permian Basin String Quartet and ASU staff accompanist Dr. Michael Yenny. Additionally, ASU baritone Dr. Scott Raines and ASU alumna soprano Patti Wetzel will perform duets from Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” and Morricone’s “Cinema Paradiso.”

Other selections included in the performance are Renaissance madrigals by Gastoldi and Bachieri; 19th century opera choruses from “I Pagliacci,” by Leoncavallo and “La Traviata,” by Verdi; Neopolitan art songs by De Curtis and Tosti; and award-winning film scores by Mancini and Rota.

Conductor for the concert will be Dr. Pamela Lee, director of choral activities at Angelo State.
