Just Energy group issued door-to-door sales permit

The San Angelo Police Department said Wednesday that its records division has issued a sales permits to a group representing Just Energy.

The SAPD said the group will be traveling in a white Ford Clubwagon with a Texas license plate beginning with FSY7. They will be conducting door-to-door sales within the City.

According to sanangelopolice.org, door-to-door sales groups are permitted to solicit in San Angelo if they obtain a valid itinerant merchant permit from the SAPD. Additionally, the permit is required to be kept on their person at all times when soliciting.

Concerned citizens are advised to always ask to see the permit if is not already visible. The salesperson is required to produce the permit for inspection upon request.

Police say the permit is not a green light for pushy strong-armed sales tactics and advises not to be afraid to offend someone by not doing business with them.

“Your home is your castle. If you are interested in hearing a sales pitch, by all means, listen. If not- do not be afraid or intimidated to ask them to leave your property and as a rule of safety, NEVER let strangers inside your home.” the SAPD page says.

The San Angelo Police Department said it can revoke itinerant merchant permits if members of the public report ill behavior and that they will not tolerate pushy/strong-armed sales tactics or behavior that is intimidating or threatening.

Call the SAPD if there has been bad experience so they may immediately address the issue. For non-emergencies, call 325-657-4315.

If a salesperson enters a home or property uninvited and does not leave when asked, call 9-1-1.

The SAPD asks that citizens pass the message on and help them spread the word.
