The Junior League of San Angelo was recognized for its membership recruitment and engagement program at the 94th annual Conference of the Association of Junior Leagues International May 12-14 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Twelve individual junior leagues were recognized for innovation at the conference, where women from 291 chapters representing four countries gathered. The commended leagues were awarded in areas ranging from fundraising to membership development to achieving community impact.
According to a release from the JLSA, four years ago local membership stagnation resulted in a membership class in the low 20s with a drop in retention to 67 percent. In the 2015-2016 league year, JLSA recruited 47 new members, the largest class ever, and currently has 110 women on the recruitment list for the 2016-2017 class.
Additionally, the group recently accepted 46 provisionals for the 2016-2017 league year.
