Jake Hooker & The Outsiders will headline West Texas Rehab Silver Spur Ball

The West Texas Rehabilitation Center announced Monday that Texas swing band Jake Hooker & The Outsiders will headline the center’s 26th annual Silver Spur Ball. Cowboy poet Red Stegall will make a special appearance at the event.

The annual dinner and dance, which will include a casino, is planned for 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. July 22 at the McNease Convention Center, 501 Rio Concho Drive.

The ball will have a Texas barbecue meal catered by Cooking for Christ, a silent auction featuring more than 100 items and drawings for a Fender guitar signed by Stegall and other items autographed by Stegall. A new addition to the event will be high roller tables with exclusive benefits.

Advance tickets are $60 per couple through June 26, then increase to $80 per couple until they are sold out.

The West Texas Rehabilitation Center treats 500 patients daily at its facilities in Abilene, San Angelo and Ozona, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay for care. One-third of those served by the center receive some form of donor assistance. Events such as the ball allow the WTRC to serve all patients.
