Infant dies at a local licensed in-home daycare facility

San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the death of a nine-week-old infant who died Monday at a local licensed in-home daycare facility.

According to a press release issued by the SAPD, police were dispatched to the 2600 block of Colorado Avenue before 4 p.m. Monday in response to a report of a male infant that was non-responsive.

Medics from the San Angelo Fire Department were rendering emergency rescue care to the infant who was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment. The baby was pronounced dead at 4:42 p.m. and the cause of the death is unknown.

The infant has been transported to Lubbock for an autopsy and no signs of foul play were located at the scene.

This is an on-going investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available.
