Hundreds of cheerleaders head to Abilene to show support for Iraan

More than 600 cheerleaders are expected in Abilene tonight to support the Iraan Braves after last week’s bus crash, coming from all over Texas and New Mexico.

The school has also seen a flood of support in social media from countless cheer squads hundreds of miles away.

After learning about the crash, former Iraan cheerleader Starla Warren, who is now a cheer coach in Crane, started a Facebook page in support of the school.

Iraan plays Wellington in the Class 2A Division II state semifinal at 7 p.m. tonight at Shotwell Stadium.

Cheerleaders wearing uniforms or school jackets will get in for free. Chik-fil-A is providing food for them at no charge.
