Houston Texans’ Brian Cushing treats families to dinner and a shopping spree

The Houston Texans’ Brian Cushing, through his Brian Cushing Foundation, treated eight families to dinner Tuesday evening, then surprised them with a $500 shopping spree at Walmart.

Cushing’s foundation benefits military veterans and their families, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The mission of the Brian Cushing Foundation is to serve and honor the men and women who protect our country by providing resources and experiences to Houston-area veterans and their families, according to briancushing.org.

The Chronicle reports Cushing has been nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award, the 2016 Salute to Service award, the Art Rooney NFL sportsmanship award and the Byron “Whizzer” White NFL Man of the Year award.
