High speed chase through southwest San Angelo ends

UPDATE: 67-year old Evencio Luna of Ballinger was booked into the Tom Green County Jail Thursday evening on charges of evading arrest detention with vehicle and aggravated assault against a public servant.


ORIGINAL STORY: A high speed chase coming in on Highway 67 from Farm-to-Market Road 2126 led law enforcement through the streets of southwest San Angelo at approximately 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

According to scanner traffic, multiple units including Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies, San Angelo Police and at least one DPS trooper were in pursuit of what they described as a male in a small pickup truck similar to a Chevrolet S-10.

Spike strips were deployed, the strips took out tires and the suspect continued to flee from law enforcement.

Streets from Dominion Ridge to Twin Mountain to Southland were mentioned during the pursuit, which also led officers through empty fields.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., the suspect was in custody on School House Road and Twin Mountain.

An officer on the scene confirmed the apprehension of the suspect and said that no further information is available at this time.
