On Monday, February 26, a Heroes Fitness member collapsed after using the treadmill at the gym, located at 4110 Sunset Drive.
According to an unnamed source, the member frequents the gym often.
Within 15 minutes of being on the treadmill Monday morning, the member collapsed and went into cardiac arrest.
The source stated that the collapsed member went unnoticed for at least ten minutes.
Another gym member finally noticed the collapsed member and quickly began CPR.
9-1-1 was called and an ambulance arrived; however, unfortunately, the member had already passed.
According to the source, the gym did not have a defibrillator on site. The staff is reported not to be trained for emergency situations.
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, Texas is not among the states required to have an AED on site in a gym or fitness club.
