A Black History Month celebration will be held at Angelo State University on Feb. 16. In observance of Black History Month, ASU’s Multicultural Center will host the event, “Harlem Renaissance Cafe” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the lobby of the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.
The event is free and open to the public. Activities will include poetry readings, art displays and music. Light refreshments will be served.
The Harlem Renaissance was a literary, artistic and intellectual movement that kindled a new black cultural identity and spanned from the 1920s to the mid-1930s.
