A former challenger has endorsed Lane Carter in his bid for Single Member District 5 on the San Angelo City Council.
Martin W. Guinn, one of four candidates in the May 7 election for SMD congratulated Carter on taking the lead and offered his endorsement in the upcoming runoff election against Elizabeth Grindstaff.
“I urge those who voted for me to vote for Lane Carter,” Guinn said in a press release from Carter’s campaign.
Carter said he remains optimistic about the upcoming runoff.
“Mr. Guinn’s vote of confidence is appreciated. I am truly thankful for all the citizens who supported me in the election. Now, I am asking voters in SMD 5 to cast their ballot for me once again and let’s finish what we started,” he said.
Early voting will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 20-24 and from 7 a.m. to 7p.m. June 27-28 in the Tom Green County Elections office inside the Edd B. Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave. On the July 2 runoff election day, polls will be open from 7.a.m. to 7 p.m. at the same 20 locations used in the May 7 election.
Early voting will offer paper and electronic ballots. Election Day voting will be by electronic ballot only.
