Gov. Greg Abbott’s office issued a statement late Friday afternoon announcing that its Criminal Justice Division, along with the Capital Area Crime Stoppers, is offering a cash reward of up to $6,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for the Interstate 35 rock throwing attacks.
According to the release, more than 80 incidents of rocks thrown at vehicles along the I-35 corridor have been reported since June 2014. These incidents have resulted in damaged property and serious injuries.
All tips are guaranteed to be anonymous, the release said.
To be eligible for the cash reward, all tips must be submitted through Capital Area Crime Stoppers only by calling the Capital Area Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-893-8477; texting to “tip103 + your message” to 274637; or submitting a web tip at austincrimestoppers.org.
