Former United States President George H.W. Bush, the nation’s 41st commander in chief, reportedly told a crowd of approximately 40 people Monday that he would vote for Democratic party presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
CNN said Tuesday that Bush family representatives have declined to publicly acknowledge Bush’s decision. Sources close to Bush told the news network that he shared his plans Monday with board members of the bipartisan Points of Light Foundation during what he thought was a private gathering in Kennebunkport, Maine.
According to the report, Bush’s announcement at the meeting was not formal and it is unclear if everyone in the room heard him, although multiple sources did.
