Former ASU soccer standout asked to train with Houston Dash

A Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and former Rambelles soccer goalkeeper has been invited to train with National Women’s Soccer League’s Houston Dash. Shantel Wittke from Tucson, Arizona, was with the Dash over the weekend training with members of the team. She made the first cut and scrimmage alongside 33 other athletes for the Dash coaching staff.

After the scrimmage, Wittke was invited to return to Houston for training this weekend.

In a release from Angelo State University, Wittke said, “The entire staff was extremely nice and helpful the entire time. It was a great experience and I am excited for a chance to go back this weekend.”

The former Rambelle had the most wins in Angelo State history with a 24-5-2 record. She had 141 saves with a .881 save percentage. In her senior year, Wittke was No. 3 in the nation in save percentage at .904. She also had 20 career shutouts and was the first player in LSC history to win back-to-back LSC Goalkeeper of the Year awards.
