Florida teen gets in wreck, texts mom to grab drugs from car

19-year-old Port St. Lucie teen Nicholas Hipp was in the back of an ambulance after a traffic collision when he texted his mom to grab his suitcase filled with marijuana and Xanax pills out of the trunk of his car.

Records indicate a Palm Beach County paramedic watched Hipp write the text. Officers on the scene of the wreck were alerted and searched the trunk, finding nearly 150 Alprazolam pills and about a gram of marijuana, a glass pipe, baggies and a scale, according to Palm Beach Post.

Hipp told deputies he bought the drugs on the street because he objects to the pharmacy industry. He said the baggies were just used to store the pills.

As for the wreck, Hipp initially said he had to swerve to avoid hitting a U-Haul truck. He later admitted he may have fallen asleep.

Hipp is facing multiple drug-related charges.

He was bailed out of the Palm Beach County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
