A Tampa man is dead and his cousin faces a manslaughter charge after the two allegedly tested out a bulletproof vest.As reported by WTSP TV, officers responded to a call Saturday night and found 23-year-old Joaquin Mendez with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The cousin, 24-year-old Alexandro Garibaldi, originally told police he heard a gunshot and then found Mendez aching outside. However, a witness told police that Mendez tried the vest on as he sat in a chair and wondered if it worked. Police said  Garibaldi allegedly took out a gun, said “Let’s see” and shot Mendez.

Mendez was hospitalized, but later died from his injuries. The vest was found in the house with a projectile entrance hole.
