Florida infant kidnapped in 1998 reunites with birth parents

The Jacksonville, Florida infant that was kidnapped from a hospital in 1998, Kamiyah Mobley,  reunited with her biological parents Sunday.

As reported by First Coast News, Mobley’s birth parents traveled to Walterboro, South Carolina, where she was found.

Mobley, who now goes by Alexis, was taken from her mother, Shanara Mobley, in 1998 when she was eight hours old. A woman allegedly dressed up as a nurse, entered her mother’s room and said the newborn had a fever. She then took the child from the room and never returned.

On Friday, authorities confirmed they found Mobley and arrested the suspect, 51-year-old Gloria Williams. Mobley reportedly believed Williams was her biological mother.

Williams was denied bond and faces a sentence up to life in prison.

Mobley’s father said he understands his daughter has a relationship with Williams, and the incident is a difficult situation for her. However, he said he will do everything he can to establish an even stronger relationship with Mobley.
