Florida boy calls 9-1-1 to invite sheriff’s office to Thanksgiving dinner

A Florida boy called 9-1-1 on Thanksgiving, but it wasn’t to report a crime in progress –  it was to invite staffers and deputies from the Walton County Sheriff’s Department to Thanksgiving dinner at his home.

According to Walton County Sheriff Michael A. Adkinson Jr.’s Facebook page, the little boy “melted all the hearts in Walton County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center” Thursday.

Adkinson said Walton County resident “Billy” called 9-1-1 Thursday afternoon to invite WCSO staff/deputies to come eat.

“With all the bad calls we take on a daily basis this one was a welcomed happy call that made all of us smile,” said Lead Communications Officer Monica Webster.

“Billy” received a special visit Thursday by Deputies Damon Byrd and Aaron Ethridge, who gave him a sheriff’s badge and let him sit in their patrol cars.

The post also read, “While we do not encourage this use of 911… we are so honored at the invitation. Thank you Billy for making all of our days here at WCSO.”
