The Texas Firefighter Games will bring its 2017 conference to San Angelo the week of July 16-22, 2017. The last time the games were held in San Angelo was 2009.
According to the president of the association Eric Harr, more than 1,200 firefighters will come to San Angelo from across Texas. Events such as golf, soccer and softball will be held as a part of the games.
A charity run will allow San Angelo citizens to participate with firefighters with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Texas Line of Duty Task Force, an organization that helps families of fallen firefighters to recover from loss.
Additionally, the organization will raise funds to support a local organization of the city’s choice.
Families are encouraged to attend the events.
The Texas Firefighter Games were established in 1983, and has grown into more than 13 events throughout its course during the week-long event on the third Sunday of July annually. San Angelo’s event will mark the group’s 35 anniversary.
