The fifth annual Get Fit: Healthy You Expo is planned for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 21 at Sunset Mall, 4001 Sunset Drive. The event will be hosted by Sunset Mall, Shannon Medical Center and Foster Communications.
Among the services to be represented at the expo are trauma services, diabetes education, health and wellness and other Shannon departments. Shannon will offer a number of free screenings including blood glucose, blood pressure and vision.
“These screenings will provide basic information to understand your risk for heart disease and diabetes,” said Lyndy Stone, Shannon Medical Center marketing director. “I encourage everyone to come take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about their personal health as well as new information for overall health and wellness.”
Several health and fitness industry-related vendors will also be at the expo to offer information about services and selling products. Vendors include nutrition and fitness experts, community awareness health groups and more. There will also be fitness demonstrations throughout the day.
Attendees are being invited to donate blood as part of the National Volunteer Blood Donor Month Blood Drive. The United Blood Services drive will be from 2:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 20 and from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Jan. 21.
Additionally, there will be chances for mall walkers and guests to win gift cards and other prizes. The extended deadline for vendor registration is Jan. 11. For more information go to sunsetmall.com.
