DPS nabs one of the state’s 10 most wanted sex offenders

One of Texas’ 10 most wanted sex offenders, 55-year-old Roy Lee Bosier, was captured June 23 in Houston. The high-risk sex offender was wanted for parole violation and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements. Because Bosier’s arrest was the results of a tip, the tipster will receive a reward of up to $3,000.

Working off the tip information, the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigations Division, with help from the Houston Metro Police Department, found and arrested Bosier in north Houston without incident.

Bosier’s criminal history includes a 1979 conviction for raping a 17-year-old girl, as well as a 1987 conviction for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. He was paroled from prison in December 2012. In June 2015, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a warrant for his arrest for a parole violation.

To date in 2016, DPS, along with other agencies, have arrested eight Texas 10 most wanted fugitives and sex offenders. Those arrests have included five sex offenders and three gang members. Rewards in the amount of $15,500 have been paid for tips that resulted in arrests.
