The death of a Fort Hood soldier found dead on the Army post on Christmas Eve is under investigation by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command.
Fort Hood officials released the name of the soldier who was found unresponsive at an on-post residence Dec. 24.
According to an Army press release, Pvt. Paige Elizabeth Briles, 21, whose home of record is listed as Kaplan, Louisiana, entered active duty military service in February 2015, as a wheeled vehicle mechanic.
She was assigned to the Warrior Transition Unit, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, Texas, since November 2016. Briles’ awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
