Officials from Crystal City say sediment from flushing a tank caused blackened tap water to run from residents’ faucets.

According to a Crystal City notice, a tank was drained and flushed Feb 17. This, in effect, caused all sediments and deposits sitting on the lower portion of the tank to run through distribution lines. TCEQ advised the city to open fire hydrants in order to fully flush tank and and minimize residential distribution. They are encouraging residents to boil water or run water before using.
