Texas Transit Association presented the Concho Valley Transit District with the Outstanding Rural Transit System Award Friday during the 2017 Roadeo in Lubbock.
According to a press release, the TTA recognized CVTD for its recent innovative practices and improvements in making services more efficient for riders.
Under the recent supervision of Vince Huerta from McDonald Transit, CVTD set high priority for safety, reliability and customer service for the system. CVTD implemented operator training, centralized dispatching, rural bus pass system and introduced “regional clustering” for maximizing efficiency within the last year.
CVTD, a program operated under the Concho Valley Council of Governments, serves as a rural transit district for 12 counties in central and western Texas. In 2006, CVTD took over the responsibility from the City of San Angelo to provide public transportation for the San Angelo urbanized area.
