Coast Guard searching for survivors after Apache helicopter crash in Galveston Bay

Coast Guard diving crews are searching waters just off the shoreline in northern Galveston Bay after witnesses reported a “military grade” helicopter broke up midair and went down.

USCG Houston spokesperson Petty Officer Andy Kendrick confirmed to CNN an Apache helicopter crashed just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Click2Houston, there Apache went down near El Jardin Beach in Seabrook.

“We don’t even know where it came from. We haven’t had anybody who has claimed it,” Pasadena Fire Marshal David Brannon said.

 The Texas Department of Public Safety, the Coast Guard and other military officials are at the scene.
