Clemson wins 35-31 over Alabama for the college football championship

In what will surely go down as an instant classic, Clemson Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson threw a two-yard touchdown pass with just one second to go on the clock to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide 35-31, and claim the Tigers first college football national championship since 1981.

After the game, Watson declared for the NFL draft and is the heavy favorite to be the first overall pick.

One year after Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide won its fourth title with a 45-40 final in Arizona, the Tigers denied Alabama an unprecedented fifth championship in eight seasons.
