City Council meets Tuesday to discuss water, budget, payday loans

The San Angelo City Council will meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the McNease Convention Center, 501 Rio Concho Drive, to discuss a number of topics. Among the topics on the agenda are potable water, a discussion on direction related to regulation of payday loans within the City limits (an item requested by Councilmember Bill Richardson); and the consideration of allocating up to $500,000 for capital projects including $450,000 from the Civic Events Fund’s fund balance for facility improvements.

The first public hearing and consideration of amending Chapter 7 “Health and Sanitation”, Article

7.02 “Property Maintenance”, Section 7.02.063, where properties more than 10 acres could see a relaxation of code enforcement for “Weeds & vegetation” and a discussion on allowing citizens to argue before the Municipal Court when they receive letters from the City’s Code Enforcement Division regarding violations for weeds and trash, before they are fined by the City.

A public hearing and introduction of an ordinance of the City of San Angelo approving and adopting the budget for the Fiscal Year beginning Oct. 1, 2016, and ending Sept. 30, 2017, including authorizing employee compensation schedules and providing for the general appropriation of funds.

Consider approving an amendment to WU‐14‐13 with Alan Plummer Associates for the Direct Potable Reuse Pilot Project in the amount of $300,000 to incorporate grant funding from the Bureau of Reclamation WaterSMART Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Program  and authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute any related documents
