Children compete to be crowned junior rodeo princess and clown

The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo’s annual Mr. Boots Rodeo Clown and Rodeo Princess Contest took place Saturday.

Twenty-two children signed up for the contest with the hopes to be crowned as a junior clown and princess. The winning children will get to display their talents at the stock show and rodeo. There will be two winners displayed per rodeo performance.

San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Ambassador Coach Emily Herrera said the children were judged by three judges who are part of the ambassador program. The children were judged on their personality and overall appearance.

The children were asked questions about the rodeo, school and their favorite snacks.

“This is just a fun event,” Herrera said. “I was an ambassador staring in 2005, and we were doing it back then, so this has been going on for a long time now.”

The winners for the contest will be posted Monday at sanangelorodeo.com.
