More charges for 20-year old who caused chain reaction wreck on Loop 306

Additional charges have been added for Colton Beard, the 20-year old San Angelo man accused of causing a wreck on West Loop 306 Tuesday morning following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.

Beard was initially charged with reckless driving Tuesday, according to a press release from the San Angelo Police Department.

According to Tom Green County Jail booking records, Beard has also been charged with improper lane usage, violate promise to appear, harassment, no proof of financial responsibility and abandon/endanger child criminal negligence.

As defined by Texas Penal Code, abandon/endanger child criminal negligence is a second degree felony punishable by 2-20 years confinement and up to $10,000 fine. Reckless driving is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a fine up to $200. Violate promise to appear is a Class C misdemeanor. $0-500 fine and up to 180 days in jail. Harassment is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in jail and a fine of up to $4,000.

Beard posted a total of $2,582 in bonds for most of the charges. Jail records indicate that Beard remains in the Tom Green County Jail with no bond set for the felony charge.

Jail records show that Beard was rebooked into the TGC jail at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. His initial booking was at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday.
