Special Olympics athletes from across the state will participate in the annual Area 14 basketball competition Saturday at Bronte High School. The competition will be held in three separate gyms on campus from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. More than 200 Special Olympics athletes, accompanied by 30 unified partners will compete in the event.
The basketball competition will include team competition, 3-on-3 play and an individual skills competition for the athletes. One area team competing Saturday will be a group of seven from Brady High School led by BHS Special Education teacher Kami Dodds.
An opening ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. and a dance for the athletes will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Each event is free and open to the public.
