Eight children have been removed from a Bexar County home after deputies found a toddler chained to the ground and another toddler tied to a door with a dog leash Thursday.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, officials are investigating child abuse allegations involving multiple children found at a home in northeast Bexar County.
On Thursday, at approximately 11:45 p.m., deputies were called to a house in the 8100 block of Chipping. A caller told dispatchers a child could be heard crying in the backyard for a long period of time.
The press release from the BCSO said when deputies arrived, they found two toddlers in the backyard – one chained to the ground; the other tied to a door with a dog leash. Deputies set both children free.
The children were then transported to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio where they were being treated for a variety of issues as of Friday morning.
Inside the home, deputies found six children, ranging in age from 10 months to 13-years-old, all without adult supervision. Early Friday morning, parents of the six children returned to the house and were both taken into custody and are being questioned by BCSO investigators.
Investigators are also working to track down the parent(s) of the two children who were found outside. Charges are pending in the case. All of the children are now in the care of Child Protective Services.
