A severely injured man in his late 20s was found near railroad tracks behind Angelo Place Apartments early Sunday morning.

Gonzales said after San Angelo police officers had broken up the party and subjects were walking to their cars, several of them heard someone calling out for help. They discovered a man on the ground by the railroad tracks who appeared to have been hit by a train.

Officers who were already there were called to the scene.  The man was suffering from significant injuries, but was able to communicate with them. He was transported to Shannon Medical Center by ambulance and his current condition is unknown.

Railroad officials said two trains went through the area around 11:30 p.m Saturday.

As reported by P.I.O. Gonzales, the man is believed to be 28 years of age, but it is not confirmed.

The incident is still under investigation.
