ASU’s Brooks receives Coach of the Year nod

Kevin Brooks, Angelo State University Rams baseball coach, has been named the 2016 ABCA/Diamond South Central Regional Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading his team to the NCAA Division II College World Series.

Brooks led the Rams to a 39-22 record in his 12th season as head coach. He has a 450-253 overall record at Angelo State and has taken the program to its third College World Series. ASU went undefeated at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament and became the first LSC school to make to back-to-back trips to the College World Series. This is the third ABCA South Central Regional Coach of the Year honors for Brooks.

“This award is all about the team,” Brooks said in a press release from ASU athletics. “This team was a really special group that accomplished a lot of great things this season. The players are the ones that achieved the success on the field. It is a good thing for the program and we look to keep building on it.”
