The Angelo State University volleyball team has announced its 2016 schedule of 31 regular season matches, 14 of which will be held in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center, 2235 S. Jackson St.
The Rambelles kick off with the 2016 Kathleen Brasfield ASU Invitational which will take place from Sept. 2 through Sept. 3 in San Angelo. The invitational will host the South Dakota School of Mines, St. Mary’s, St. Edward’s and Regis (Colorado).
ASU will them embark on a roar tour to Colorado where it will face Adams State and Colorado State – Pueblo in Pueblo, Colorado before heading to Denver to take part in the Colorado Premier Volleyball Tournament on Sept. 9 and 10. The tournament which will be held in Denver, Colorado, will play host to a group of nationally ranked teams including No.4 Concordia -St. Paul, No.11 Central Missouri, No. 17 Arkansas-Fort Smith, No.20 Lewis, No.23 Colorado School of Mines and No.25 West Florida. ASU will then return to San Angelo, to begin its Lone Star Conference schedule with a home match against Texas Woman’s at 7 p.m. Sept. 16.
The Belles will be returning to the court after finishing its 2015 season ranked No. 21 in the AVCA’s final poll and after a stellar spring season. In 2015, ASU won its seventh Lone Star Conference tournament and advanced to the South Central Regional final finishing as the runner-ups.
