Angelo State University has been named to the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) 2018 Transfer Honor Roll, which identifies the top U.S. four-year colleges and universities that are creating dynamic pathways to support transfer students.
ASU was one of only 112 U.S. institutions honored in April at PTK Catalyst 2018, Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention, in Kansas City, Mo.
Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society for students at associate degree-granting colleges. Its annual Transfer Honor Roll is open to all regionally accredited bachelor’s degree-granting institutions and recognizes excellence and success in community college transfer pathway development. Applications are evaluated in the areas of scholarships and financial aid, admissions outreach, student support services and student engagement opportunities.
PTK President and CEO, Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, said the recognition program reflects the growing importance of identifying and responding to the needs of community college transfers and promoting and sharing best practices for transfer success.
“The Transfer Honor Roll Program identifies colleges and universities that understand the unique needs of transfer students,” Tincher-Ladner said, “and applauds the dynamic pathways these colleges have created to continue fostering student success among transfer students at the four-year college.”
ASU currently has 19 articulation agreements with community colleges that simplify and guarantee the student transfer process. The agreements include 17 with community colleges in Texas, as well as agreements with Goodfellow Air Force Base and the Community College of the Air Force.
ASU also offers Carr Transfer Scholarships and PTK Scholarships for high-achieving transfer students, and the ASU Veterans Educational and Transitional Services (VETS) Center offers specialized services for military and veteran transfer students and their dependents. Additional services are available through the ASU Office of Transfer Services.
