The Angelo State University Chorale and San Angelo Community Chorale will present a free Easter concert on Monday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 32 N. Irving St. in downtown San Angelo.
The public is invited to celebrate the Easter season with the chorales as they present highlights from Handel’s musical masterpiece, “Messiah.” The concert program will also feature popular hymns, including “Come, Thou Fount of Ev’ry Blessing” and “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross,” three of Aaron Copland’s “Old American Songs,” and John Rutter’s setting of “All Things Bright and Beautiful.”
The chorales will be accompanied by the Permian Basin String Quartet, and guest soloists will include baritone Mark Cooper and soprano Patti Wetzel, both ASU alumni. Dr. Scott Raines, ASU’s professor of voice, will also perform.
The ASU and Community Chorales will be under the direction of Dr. Pamela Lee, director of ASU choral activities since 1994.
